Are you a high school junior looking for a summer full of new experiences, valuable skills and a paycheck? Then the Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow summer work program, hosted by Coastal Electric Cooperative, is calling your name!

From now until April 23, Coastal Electric is accepting applications for this awesome program. Not only will you earn $10 an hour (up to 40 hours a week), but you'll also dive into hands-on training in exciting career fields like:

  • Engineering

  • Business

  • Line work & construction

  • Safety

  • Customer service

  • IT, marketing, and more!

By joining the Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow program, you'll get a taste of various careers and learn what it’s really like to work for an electric cooperative. Plus, you’ll collaborate with other high school students from across coastal Georgia and even volunteer in the community—making memories and building connections along the way.

The Details:

  • Pay: $10/hour, up to 40 hours/week

  • Eligibility: Must be 16 or older, have completed 11th grade, and maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher

  • Dates: June 2 – July 25 (must be available for the full program)

  • Deadline to apply: April 23

Job Qualifications:

Students must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Complete the 11th grade (must be a rising senior) and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Be a responsible individual with reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding activities while working outside in all conditions.
  • Must pass pre-employment screening (drug testing).
  • Perform other job related duties as requested by management

Students are required to submit the following documents when applying to the program:

  1. A resume
  2. A one-page cover letter briefly describing the student’s interest in the program and why he/she should be selected
  3. Official Transcript verifying current GPA
