Job Responsibilities:

Job Purpose:

Performs skilled electrical work in the installation, testing, and maintenance of single and three-phase meters and metering-related equipment. This position will also be responsible for installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic drops.

Duties:

  • Test, services, maintains, and calibrates all meters, instrument transformers, and metering equipment.
  • Performs connects and disconnects of electrical service to residential and commercial accounts.
  • Identifies and reports safety hazards, vandalism, meter tampering, and other potential issues.
  • Install and maintain poly-phase and special metering including CT meter cabinets.
  • Collect hourly meter data for industrial and special billing customers. Translate data for billing in-house and GEC for key accounts.
  • Perform field fiber-optic work: terminations and repair.
  • Install overhead and underground fiber service drops.
  • Must keep vehicle clean and organized.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

High school diploma or state equivalency certification required. A minimum of one (1) year related

experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and applications customarily used in an office and engineering environment. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, safety material, and other work-related documents. Ability to use appropriate communications skills, to safely operate equipment associated with this job, ability to read and comprehend job-related paperwork, company publications and safety information. Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must be able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
