Staking Technician

Job Responsibilities:

Job Purpose:

Issue work orders for all forms of system expansion and modification while ensuring that designs are prepared in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Duties:

  • Assist members in selecting best electrical line route for power to home or business.
  • Prepare work orders for overhead and underground member line extensions and area lighting. Prepare conduit plans for underground subdivisions and design electrical systems for development.
  • Obtain right-of-way, easements, and permits from landowners and governmental agencies.
  • Design and field stake work orders.
  • Revise completed jobs with red line changes in order to properly account for time and material.
  • Perform conduit inspections and underground locates as needed.
  • Design power and/or conduit layouts and create new specifications and design specific material.
  • Perform all other job related duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications:

Must have a High school diploma or state equivalent diploma with (5) years of relevant experience in staking and/or drafting or an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with (2) years of relevant experience in staking and/or drafting or a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with (1) year of relevant experience in staking and/or drafting or (2) years of line construction experience. Must possess a strong functional knowledge of high school level math.  Must be able to complete Line Design and Staking Level on the job training courses.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, safety materials, and other work related material.  Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license, as use of company vehicles is required in this job.  Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and applications customarily used in an office and engineering environment.  Ability to work non-standard work hours or weekends and perform overtime work as needed.
